Moeed Ahmad

Moeed Ahmad is a digital media executive and strategist with over two decades of experience leading media transformation across global organizations. He currently serves as Head of AJ+ English, Al Jazeera Media Network’s award-winning digital channel, where he has led major strategic shifts pivoting to audience-focused platforms like TikTok, YouTube, and Instagram and guided the channel to its highest industry honors, including two National Emmys and two Peabody Awards in 2023 and 2024.
A founding figure behind AJ+, Moeed previously served as Al Jazeera’s Innovation & Incubation Manager, where he drove digital experimentation and product development across the network. He played a pivotal role in building Al Jazeera’s digital infrastructure and editorial innovation strategy, particularly during moments of global significance such as the Arab Spring. His earlier work helped establish the digital presence of new Al Jazeera channels, including Al Jazeera America, AJ Turk, and AJ Balkans.
Moeed holds a Computer Science degree from the University of Toronto and a graduate diploma in International Relations from Cambridge University. He has served on advisory boards at Qatar University and the Diplomatic Council, and has spoken at TEDx, SXSW, the Aspen Institute, and Creative Commons regional convenings. He is a strong advocate for media justice, knowledge equity, and the role of open access in amplifying voices from the Global South.
